2025 LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS

Level descriptions

The beginner course at the camp will be taught by Seita Keloluoto & Ari Sirén and the double role group will be taken care of by Heini Soutamo-Kohlrausch and Saana Kalliokoski.

Sofia Victoria Mira & Fernando Waisberg, Nina Krook ja Michalis Georgopoulos and Carina Quiroga and Arttu Artkoski will rotate at all other levels (improvers, intermediate and advanced) so that each couple teaches each group for 1–2 classes. For choosing the class level suitable for yourself, please read the level descriptions below.

Beginner level

You have not been dancing Argentine tango before or possibly have attended some beginner courses, but it all still feels new. You are coming to get a good basis to build further learning of this dance.

Improver level

You have been dancing Argentine tango for a while already. You are proficient in the basic techniques (posture, walking, use of the core), the basic elements of the dance and your own balance. You have already tried dancing in milongas with various partners.

Intermediate level

You have been practicing Argentine tango regularly for at least a couple of years. You are already confident in your own balance and you're starting to develop a mutual balance with your partner too. You hear and can dance to the rhythm and are beginning to notice and express the various music styles. As a leader you are able to wait for your follower to complete their movement before moving on yourself. You understand the difference between close and open embrace and can easily use either. You go to milongas actively and are able to dance with different types of partners with confidence.

Advanced level

You are already an experienced Argentine tango dancer – we recommend at least four/five years of active dancing experience. You have mastered the basic techniques. You can keep your balance as an individual as well as in a couple and do that also in the more complex elements of tango. You are able to express the various music styles with different dance techniques and are longing for demanding exercises to develop your skills even further.

Double role group

Anyone who already actively dances Argentine tango can participate in the double role group – those who already dance both roles and also those who so far have danced only as a leader or a follower but are willing to start learning the other role.

Mastery is not required – an earnest will to study and practice tango in both roles is most important. More advanced double role dancers are also welcome to the group! We are sure that there will be plenty of learning opportunities for everyone.
